Liposuction Cost Tampa
How much does Liposuction cost?
The cost of liposuction varies from patient-to-patient depending on a variety of factors such as the number of areas, the amount of fat to be extracted, surgeon’s and facility fees, among others. On average you can expect to pay from $4,000 up to $11,000 for liposuction.
Cost of single body area liposuction
Liposuction cost can vary greatly depending on the patient; however, an average size woman 5’2″ and 135 lbs. who desires one area like abdomen to be reduced can expect the following:
- The liposuction cost for one body area can range from $4,000 – $4,500
- This is approximate of course and based on the amount of fat in these areas. Price would fluctuate 10-15 % up or down based on smaller or larger than average.
Cost of multiple body areas liposuction
Combining 2 or more areas during a single procedure will cost less than performing separate procedures for each area. It is very common that patients have several areas treated in one session of liposuction. Up to 4 areas of the body can be treated safely in one session.
- See the above example for 1st body area treated
- If this same woman desires to add her waist/hips (mid-section) to the same surgery, only add $1,000-$1,500 more so a total of approximately $5,500
- As you can see the pricing gets progressively less as you add areas during the same procedure.
- Basically, each additional area (after the first) will add $1,000-$2,000
What is the cost of liposuction in Tampa Florida?
Do not be fooled by liposuction centers that have what seems like extremely low pricing. There is most likely “small print” exclusions and criteria such “3 areas minimum”, “other fees may apply”, and “BMI extra rates may apply”. A doctor-patient relationship should begin by being totally direct, forthright, and transparent. In our view, this is unethical and has no place in the field of medicine.

What factors determine the cost of a liposuction surgery?
Surgeon fees
According to the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) in 2019 the national average of surgeon fees for liposuction was $3,548. This is the average of what a plastic surgeon charges to perform a liposuction procedure. In general, surgeon fees do not include fees of the anesthesiologist. If anesthesia is needed, these costs will be charged separate. Other additional fees to consider are pre-lab work, operating room and liposuction garments.
Surgeons value their fees based on their qualifications, experience and the amount of time and effort required to accomplish the liposuction surgery.
On the other hand, the surgeon’s estimated time and effort depend on the number of areas treated, the size of the patient and the complexity of the case.
Quantity of extracted fat
Treating an area (such as the abdomen) will usually take up more time on larger patients. For example, if a patient has only moderate to minimal fat deposits in the abdominal area, it might take the doctor under 2 hours to complete the procedure. In comparison, for a large sized patient with more fat deposits the procedure will take more than 2,5 hours. The surgeon will have to do more tunneling under the abdomen with the cannula to extract larger fat quantities. Larger fat deposits usually mean more surgical time, hence higher fees.
It is important to know that there is a limit of fat volume that can be extracted in a one procedure. The ASPS and many specialists define 5 liters (1,32 gallons) as a limit for safe liposuction.
Number of treated areas
Many physicians have a discount policy for multiple areas being treated at the same time. In general, treating multiple areas of the body at the same time costs less than if all those individual areas were broken up into separate sessions.
Combining other procedures
Liposuction can be combined with other procedures such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Fat transfers procedures such as breast lift, face lift, or buttocks augmentation are always performed with liposuction. Doctors offer bundle packages, with discounts on combined procedures.
City / location
Procedures offered in bigger cities tend to cost more. Liposuction can cost more in geographic areas where living costs & rent prices are higher.
Extras, post-op kit, garments
Under the extras fall the cost of the pre-operative lab tests, all post-operative visits, prescriptions of medications needed, the elastic compression garments to wear on the treated areas.
